Cranmore Lodge has a total of 9 apartments of which some are suitable for disabled use subject to the actual disability requirement. This should be checked from the use of the information provided below, and via discussion in person by phone or email to advise suitability of each apartment and its availability.

  • The nearest bus stop is around the corner approx 300mts (500mts to main road) away.
  • The nearest train station (The Town) is 1.5 miles away; there are accessible taxis at the station or the no. 12 bus travels from station to around corner at top of main road
  • We can arrange to hire wheelchairs and other aides and equipment on your behalf if required, or provide suppliers contact details.
  • We can arrange for shopping to be delivered for your initial arrival, please advise of your requirements.
  • A Radar toilet is located on the end of promenade.
  • The central area is 5-10mins steady walk away on level ground.
  • Disabilities are to be advised beforehand so we are made aware of and they are noted.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

  • Car parking is provided and specific spaces are not normally allocated, but we have a space we reserve for unloading/loading or disability use (to be advised beforehand if required for duration of stay).
  • The car park is located centrally within the grounds of the buildings, within a few metres of apartments. It is generally level and of tarmac construction.
  • We are sorry Dogs are not allowed.
  • Dependant upon the apartment are the access's into them, which are either via ramps or steps and should be discussed beforehand as to the particular requirements and the suitability of the individual apartment.
  • Automatic/sensor security lighting is installed in the car park and drive/pathways.
  • The reception is at the front of building (3 steps up) with doorbell, but guests are greeted at the rear door, which also has a doorbell for any enquiries after their arrival.
  • Apartments are numbered and has signage to show point of entry (main building apartments).
  • Assistance can be given upon request if required for unloading/loading.
  • Booking of taxi's can be arranged.

Main Entrance & Reception

  • The main reception/office is at the front of the building (3 steps up), access to all the apartments are at the rear of property either via a communal entrance to some in the main building, or individual entrances.
  • Entrance to the apartments can be more than one dependant upon the actual apartment and can be advised when discussed upon the suitability.
  • Guests are greeted individually upon arrival and the facilities of the apartment are gone through with them, and advised of contact details if required.
  • Entrance doors are either of a UPVC or wooden construction again dependent on the actual apartment, these can be advised when discussed upon the suitability of the actual apartment.
  • The owners reside on the site and available at most times.
  • Certain apartments have wider doorways than others and ramps, again this can be advised when discussed upon the suitability of a particular apartment.

Public Areas - General (Internal)

  • Cranmore Lodge is 2 storey's high.
  • A lifts is not available, access to the upper level is via a staircase (4 steps then 90 degree turn up remainder of flight) of standard width and construction. it has a handrail.
  • Apartments are all on one level internally with:
  • 4 on Ground level
  • 5 on 1st floor level
  • (2 of each on our annexe building).
  • The communal lobby entrance is carpeted throughout, with 1 apartment on ground floor and 3 apartments upstairs.
  • A payphone is currently installed in the communal lobby entrance as is the main fire alarm panel.
  • Lighting in this area is provided via table lamps on timers with additional lighting if required via time lag wall switches for ceiling and staircase lighting.
  • Emergency lighting and Emergency exit signs are also provided in this area that complies with the European signage types.

Outdoor Facilities

  • Cranmore Lodge is located on Preston sea front in Paignton. It is on a level position opposite the beach and promenade and grass green.
  • The beach has ramps and Torbay Council have access facilities available to allow access onto the beach if required (These are provided during the season and should be checked for availability with them beforehand).
  • In front of us is Preston green with public benches provided along perimeter as well as along the promenade. The green has a children's play area, which is enclosed within metal railings, it also has a adventure pirate playing frame for younger children which is further enclosed in a metal fenced area.
  • Access to Cranmore Lodge is via driveway, which is gently sloped and is of tarmac construction. Access into designated apartments is generally via ramps provided or permanently installed. It should be noted that there are door thresholds to overcome of a typical type with UVPVC doorways (downward step of approx 100mm).
  • We have a parking bay that we keep aside for visitors with disabilities and/or to assist when unpacking/packing.
  • Nighttime light is via automatic/sensor/security lighting.

Conference & Meeting Rooms, Banqueting, Clubs, Entertainment


  • All apartments have at least one separate bedroom and dependent upon the particular apartment are the sizes and sizes of doorways etc. This can be advised/discussed upon the suitability of the particular apartment for access with wheelchairs etc.
  • All bedrooms have a combined smoke detector and sounder installed, which is set at a sound level of the BS requirements.
  • Guests should advise the level of any disabilities when enquiring/booking so this can be noted and accommodated.
  • All bedrooms have fully fitted carpets
  • All beds are of a standard height.

Bathroom, Shower-room & WC [Ensuite or Shared]

  • All apartments have separate bathroom toilets and dependant upon the particular apartment are the sizes and handrails/additional facilities they have. This can be advised/discussed upon the suitability of the particular apartment.
  • All have standard baths installed at standard height with showers over bath of either electric instantaneous or tap mixer type arrangements.
  • A Bath stool/seat and bench type attachment over bath can be provided upon request.
  • Non-slip bath mats can be provided upon request.

Self-Catering Kitchen

  • The kitchens in all apartments are arranged as an open plan lounge/kitchen/diner type.
  • Kitchen units/worktops are of standard type/height and taps are either separate or mixer type.
  • Cooking facilities are via electric cookers and separate microwaves.

Grounds and Gardens

  • Cranmore Lodge has a large lawned area for the use of our guests that has tables and chairs together with relaxer/sunbed chairs for their use.
  • Some apartments have separate patio areas for their use.
  • Our annexe building has a path around to the access of apartments with one small step adjacent to one apartment, again dependant upon the suitability of the apartment this can be discussed

Additional Information

  • We are a nonsmoking establishment.
  • Unfortunately we cannot accommodate service dogs.
  • We have an external power socket to accommodate charging of mobility scooters if required.
  • Information is provided on emergency procedures verbally upon arrival and also within our guest information pack and signage in the apartment.
